Earlier this week, I posted a poll on how (or whether) people utilize LinkedIn status updates. Given the very positive response, that research has been expanded and the results will be posted here by year's end. Please participate and share the link to this page with your network! There are only four multiple choice questions. It swill not take more than two minutes to complete the surveys.
The identical question and answers for each service (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Yammer) are:
Question: How often do you review <insert service name> status updates (either via the web or email)?
Possible Answers:
- More than once per work day
- Once per work day
- A few times per week
- Rarely
- Never
There is also the ability to comment.
Take surveys: (one question per service, opens new window on your computer)
Finally, click upon the image given below to view full sized. It shows the kind of results that will be returned.

I agree with PGerman - I have most updates sent to my IM client / aggregator

Maybe this is just me being an early adopter... but its funny to me that you don't have an option for "I check it whenever I get an update sent to my phone/BBerry or desktop client".
In your case that would be lumped in with more than once a day.
