You may not know this fact (or care), but the Northstar Nerd attended Dartmouth. Even after having spent four years on the Hanover plain, I can still appreciate the Harvard Hooligans! These guys have some great humor, I highly recommend these two particular videos:
- Harvard Homework Helper Hotline!
(I now know how my brother made it through Harvard B school)
. - iPod Makes Me So Cool!
(my first computer was a slide rule ... perhaps that's my problem)
Pay particular attention to the "video response" to the iPod video (hint, hint). Click to expand any image. Still on holiday today ... back to the real work on Monday. Oh yes, I still don't own an iPod!
Post Update on January 4th: The Harvard Hooligans have offered me advice! Take a look.
Hi Rich,
In the interest of full disclosure, you already know I grew up . . . up north. I feel I owe a lot to my PC even though I switched to a Mac. I still use the PC for one app. Oh, I've also done two projects with Stanford. I will admit . . . the Harvard guys are cute. Thank you for sharing your tech knowledge and your video on the creek. loved the sound. p

Hi Rich,
I'm posting this reluctantly, as I don't want to get into a tech war. Get an iPod -- you won't self-destruct. For someone into design, learning, and technology, you'd enjoy it. Check out E Tufte's interface design. I have an earlier version . . . and I'm 27+. Pati
... Rich responds ... I'm not to worried about self-destructing, Actually I'm saving my money in anticipation I may want to purchase a Google Android mobile device late this Summer.

I don't have an iPod, either. And I don't intend on getting one. I have a T-Mobile Dash smartphone, and it suits me just fine. I dare say we are becoming a culture of Blackberries and iPhones, and I simply refuse to conform! Rage against the (mobile) machine!
